The STS/ACC TVT-R star rating system is one of the most sophisticated and highly regarded overall measures of quality in health care, rating the benchmarked outcomes of TAVR programs in the United States. The star rating is calculated using a combination of quality measures for TAVR procedure performed by an STS/ACC TVT Registry participant. “The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American College of Cardiology congratulate STS/ACC TVT Registry participants for their continuing efforts to improve the safety and outcomes of transcatheter valve procedures,” said David M. Shahian, MD, co-chair of the Task Force of TVT Public Reporting. “Participation in the TVT Registry and public reporting demonstrates a commitment to quality improvement in health care delivery and helps provide patients and their families with meaningful information to help them make informed decisions about health care,” said Ralph Brindis, MD, MPH, co-chair fo the Task Force on TVT Public Reporting.
The STS/ACC TVT Registry, created through a collaboration between STS and the American College of Cardiology (ACC), monitors patient safety and real-world outcomes related to transcatheter valve replacement and repair procedures – emerging treatments for valve disease patients.
The TVT Registry has been approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to meet the registry requirements outlined in the national coverage decisions for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR).
